Kristiina Mäenpää

Kristiina Mäenpää (b. 1990) is a Helsinki-based visual artist working with installation, sculpture and photographic mediums.

Her work emphasises the dialogue between artwork and exhibition space, with particular attention to the meanings, histories and durational layers carried by different materials.

Mäenpää’s background in photography continues to inform her practice through an interest in temporality, traces and material processes. She approaches the photographic not only as the trace of light on a light-sensitive surface, but more broadly as traces of duration held within materials.
