NNKS (North Norwegian Art Centre / Nordnorsk kunstnersenter) is the regional centre for contemporary art in Northern Norway, based in Svolvær. Its mission is to kindle interest in visual arts and crafts across the region, connecting local artistic practice with national and international dialogues
NNKS operates an ongoing program of exhibitions, artist residencies, and public projects. It runs Kunstnerhuset Svolvær (the artist house on Svinøya) and organises Lofoten International Art Festival (LIAF) every two years.
In all its work, NNKS seeks to foster cultural vitality in Northern Norway, bridging remote geographies and artistic ambition through site-specific practice, community engagement, and international exchange.
