Felicia Hedman

Felicia Hedman is a Swedish dance and circus artist based in Helsinki. She has been educated in Italy, France, Portugal, and Sweden, developing a practice rooted in circus, contemporary dance, and acrobatics. Felicia’s work investigates the meeting point between these disciplines, exploring the comical, the unexpected, and the playful qualities of circus alongside the raw, instinctive expressivity of dance.

She is currently working with Opus Company and has danced in works by Tijen Lawton, Julio Iglesias Ungo, Beno Novak, Samir Calixto. She has trained with Skånes Dansteater and Kinetic Orchestra, experiences that continue to shape her multidisciplinary practice.

Felicia’s practice is based in improvisation and impulse, investigating movement as a primary mode of expression. She explores how gesture, physicality, and theatricality intersect to create work that is both functional, playful and raw. Her research is engaged with how the body communicates presence and emotion through movement, and how the unexpected, absurd, or unpolished can become central to performative expression. She is particularly interested in blending the structures of circus with the freedom of dance to develop new forms of embodied storytelling.

Her current artistic research and practice aligned closely with this year’s residency theme. As a newly graduated artist, She is eager to find a supportive community where she can both share and grow through collaboration.
