PRAKSIS Development Forum (PDF) is a monthly peer-discussion group for creative people. There is space for up to three people to sign up to gain feedback on their current work. Randi Thommessen, director of LNM, will open the session by inviting feedback on a curatorial project currently in development.

In PDF #58, artist Yaniya Mikhalina will introduce the ongoing research that underpins Appeal to All Western Countries, a sound sculpture originally inspired by a Soviet archive document dealing with the status of Tatar and Bashqort indigenous languages. Drawing on her artistic and personal experience, Mikhalina will explore themes of form, context, production and temporality.

Artist and researcher İz Öztat opens PDF 55 by sharing a video work in progress using hand puppets to explore artistic agency and accountability in confronting state violence. The session invites discussion on engaging with violent histories through creative practice, materiality, and narrative. Participants may also share their own works-in-progress.

Session 54 invites artist Shannon Rae Stratton to kick off the round-table sharing session. Stratton transforms her old notebooks into new sheets of paper, embedding traces of their contents and drawing and painting on the surfaces. This edition is especially relevant for painters, particularly those who work beyond canvas, and for those interested in themes of memory, materiality, and transformation.

A common denominator in the duo's artistic work is change – changes that occur in landscapes, language, or in a material. Their collaborations typically include people who are not artists.
