PRAKSIS Development Forum (PDF) Session 38 with Tiril Flom

  • PRAKSIS Rådhusgata 19 Oslo 0158 (map)

PRAKSIS Development Forum (PDF) is a monthly peer-discussion group for creative people. It provides a friendly, informal hub for practitioners to meet, share and discuss works-in-progress.

PRAKSIS Development Forum (PDF) session 38 will be introduced by Oslo-based art writer Tiril Flom. You are warmly invited to PRAKSIS HQ to enjoy homemade gløgg and pepperkake at this festive edition of our group sharing event.

To begin the session Tiril Flom will introduce her exhibition highlights of 2022 and reflect on her approach to contemporary art writing. Tiril works as a journalist for Kunstavisen and regularly writes as a freelancer for Kunstkritikk. She reports on exhibitions and current affairs in the Norwegian art scene, and recently interviewed Laure Prouvost about her exhibition ‘Above Front Tears Oui Float’ at the Nasjonal Museum.

This session will be of interest both to practitioners of art writing, criticism and journalism, and creative practitioners who want to know more about those who write about them! After Tiril’s talk, participants will be invited to share their own work in progress and join a wider conversation about arts practice.

PDF is free to join and held in English (due to its transnational setting).

Book Your Place
There are 8 places for this session and booking is essential. If you are curious about PDF but don't necessarily want to show anything (yet), feel free to come and see what goes on.

To reserve a spot please email: pdf@praksisoslo.org

PDF Structure
Each participant has around 20 minutes to share their current artistic activity. PDF’s focus is on works and ideas in progress, so please do not present finished works or projects. Projects in development can be shared in a number of ways: for example by bringing in physical works, presenting a slideshow, reading, performance, or other suitable communication strategy. A projector and laptop is available for the group to use throughout the session. PDF encourages variety and experimentation, so please get in touch if you have questions or special requirements.

About Tiril Flom
Tiril Flom holds a BA in performing arts and aesthetic theory from Goldsmiths College, London (2010-14) and an MA in Aesthetics and Art and Society Art from Oslo Met (2017-19). Experienced in project work, production and communication, she has worked for organisations such as MESEN and is now employed as a journalist with responsibility for news and debate in Kunstavisen. Tiril also works as a freelance art writer and is a member of the art section of the Norwegian Critics Association.
