BOMS ELLER PROTAGONIST? SEMINAR #2 //
Fredag 26/8 2016 kl 09.00-18.00

Forstanderskapssalen, Sentralen, Øvre Slottsgate 3, Oslo.

Oslo is now the fastest growing city in Europe. Property prices and rents are rising rapidly creating new challenges for artists and small to medium arts institutions. BOMS ELLER PROTAGONIST? #2 is the second seminar of two seminars organised by UKS with artists Ida Madsen and Ingrid Lønningdal, bringing together a range of experienced contributors - both local and international - to address the issues being faced and seek possible solutions.

PRAKSIS Director, Nicholas John Jones will look at artist initiated models for affordable studios and whether there are potential solutions to the rising cost of housing.

See www.uks.no/#program for more details of the event.

ORP2 and PRAKSIS come together to present a selection of work at Atelier Nord ANX. Also featured is, VIDEO OPEN, a film program curated by Janne Talstad.

PRAKSIS presents an informal selection of results from their New Technology and the Post-Human residency, investigating ideas of identity in digital societies. This residency is led by David Blandy & Larry Achiampong (UK), alongside participating residents: Maren Dagny Juell Kristensen (NO), Eli Maria Lundgaard (NO), Tonje Alice Madsen (NO), Martina Petrelli (CA/IT), Marit Pethsiri Silsand (NO), and Gary Zhexi Zhang (UK). The residency features a research visit by Jeremy Bailey (CA).

ORP2 exhibition II: Artists with studios at Olaf Ryes Plass 2 come together for the second year running to exhibit at Atelier Nord ANX. The exhibition will feature Live radio: FORBAUSET OG FRIGJORT (Bewildered and free) – a performance, a radio program, a kind of dementia school rolled into one, featuring live music by Maria Due and interviews with, amongst others, Audun Myskja - all put together by Søssa Jørgensen and Yngvild Færøy. This takes place from 15.30 on Sunday 17 April (duration 45 min.).

ORP2 participating artists include: Simona Barbera, Sara Christensen, Ina Eriksen, Yngvild Færøy/Søssa Jørgensen, Marthe Ramm Fortun, Maria Sundby, Janne Talstad.

The Video Open film reel is derived from the idea of Open Source, which means the open video is a video that can be freely used, changed, and shared. Thus the program in Video Open can be changed by both the curator and the artists involved over time. The program stays the same, with alterations based on natural needs. The program becomes a vessel for content, and in the arbitrary of the diverse content curatorial challenges will become obvious, which again creates the need for curatorial narration in the program.

Featured artists: Mads Andreassen, Ayman AlAzraq/Tamer Fathy, Andrea Bakketun, Per Christian Brown, Ronny Faber Dahl, Kristine Dragland, Anders Eiebakke/Izabela Rakowska, Tor Jørgen van Eijk, Crispin Gurholt, Marte Hodne Haugen, Jason Havneraas/Kjetil Berge, Christian Hennie, Henrik Plenge Jakobsen, Christian Norum, Jóhanna Ellen Ríkharðsdóttir, Malie Robb, Kristian Skylstad, Helene Sommer, Ellen Henriette Suhrke, Janne Talstad, Kjersti Vetterstad, Camilla Aas. (Full list of participating artists is published on the Oslo Open and Atelier Nord websites.)
