Talking body politics, normativity and the connotations of genetic technologies.

Daniel Mariblanca is a dancer and choreographer whose artistic vision explicitly centers on bodies, stories and physicalities that exist outside of normative standards. You are invited to join Daniel and residents — Marte Aas, Jonathan Armour, Louis Alderson-Bythell, Trinley Dorje, Adam Peacock, Erika Stöckel and Bobby Yu Shuk Pui — to participate in an intimate discussion about the human body.

Daniel Mariblanca is a dancer and choreographer. He started his own company 71BODIES in 2016. His work explicitly explores and puts in the center of his artistic vision bodies, stories and physicalities that do not belong to mainstream society. The artistic vision of Mariblanca’s work is with and about people that live and exist outside of normative standards.

From 26–29 August, Dansens Hus, Oslo presents Daniel Mariblanca and 71BODIES: In First Person: The Dance. This play is a transgender life project initiated by Daniel, inspired and performed by transgender and gender non-conforming people from Norway and abroad.

Born in Barcelona, Spain in 1981, Daniel Mariblanca began his professional dance career immediately after graduating from the Institut del Teatre in Barcelona in 2005. In 2016, after more than 15 years of dancing professionally around Europe, Daniel joined Carte Blanche in Bergen, Norway. In the same year he created 71BODIES, a transgender inclusive professional dance/performance company centred on generating artistic expressions through the personal stories and lived experiences of people that do not belong to mainstream society. Since then, Daniel has received two nominations for the Pernilleprisen Audience Award (2018, 71BODIES 1DANCE), garnered the award for Artist of the Year from the City of Bergen (2019), a nomination by Carte Blanche for the Audience Prize (2021, Time With You Is Precious), and recently received Bergens Tidende’s Critics’ Award, Pernilleprisen (2021, In First Person).

Karmaklubb* is a celebration of good things. It is queer and nomadic by nature, doing clubbing, publishing (we like words), ‘thought and pleasure’ sessions at museums, bars, artist driven hubs, public spaces — wherever. And we are liquid. Probably the most active project of its kind in Scandinavia. https://karmaklubb.com

The Vigeland Museum is devoted to Norway's most famous sculptor, Gustav Vigeland (1869–1943). It combines the curating of Vigeland’s heritage with the presentation of contemporary art. https://vigeland.museum.no/en
