  • PRAKSIS 19 Rådhusgata Oslo, 0158 Norway (map)

The Fourth PDF will be held at Fotogalleriet and be the first off-site edition of PRAKSIS’s artist peer-support group. We will commence the session with an introduction to the Nordic Photobook Award, an open call submission for newly developed books by Fotogalleriet, followed by an overview of VÅRUTSTILLINGEN 2019 by the Norwegian association of Fine Art Fotographers (FFF).

Afterwards, participants will have the opportunity to share their own practice and works in progress in a round table discussion. This session of PDF is particularly relevant to artists developing lens-based projects and a great opportunity to learn about future opportunities with Fotogalleriet and FFF.

The Praksis Development Forum (PDF) is a monthly peer-support group for the creative community of Oslo led by practising artist Sayed Sattar Hasan. It provides a friendly, informal space for a diversity of practitioners to meet, share and discuss works in progress in a constructive setting. It is an opportunity to learn about what other creatives in Oslo are up to and hear different perspectives on how to approach practice. PDF is open to individuals at all career stages and values the experience and contributions of all participants who attend.

Each session begins with a short guest presentation by an invited contributor before the session opens up for other participants to share their own practices. Meetings last 2.5 hours, allowing approximately twenty minutes to focus on each participant’s work-in-progress.

Projects in development can be shared in a number of ways, for example; slideshows, showing physical works, readings, performances, or any means which suitably communicates ideas. A group projector and laptop is available to display digital files. Participants need to keep time constraints in mind when presenting and discussing work, however, Sayed is on hand to ensure that the session runs smoothly.

PDF sessions take place from 17:30 – 20:00 on the second Wednesday of each month (unless otherwise stated) and are held at PRAKSIS HQ, partner arts organisations and artist studios. There are 8 places per session so booking is advised. Please write to attention of Sayed Hasan to find out more or book a place.

Refreshments will be provided.
