PDF session 7 welcomes artist and filmmaker Sara Eliassen to kick-start its round-table sharing.

Sara will discuss an on-going project that has been in development between Oslo and Mexico over several years. She will reflect on the gaze of the outsider and the experience of negotiating practice while traveling.

Sara is a Phd candidate in artistic research at Oslo National Academy of the Arts - the Art Academy and holds an MFA in film from San Francisco Art Institute. Eliassen works with film, photography and installations, and her films ‘Still Birds’ and ‘A Blank Slate’ have played extensively at international film festivals, such as the Venice Film Festival, International Film Festival Rotterdam and Sundance. Her work also involves projects in public space, most recently ‘The Feedback Loop’, a public screen intervention at Oslo Central Station commissioned by The Munch Museum- Munchmuseet on the Move (2018).

After the guest presentation the table will open up for all participants to share their own work in progress or ideas. Each participant will have approximately 20 minutes to focus on their own artistic activity. It is important to note that PDF is for discuss the in between space of practice and not about presenting finished works.

Projects in development can be shared in a number of ways, for example; showing physical works, slideshows, readings, performances, or any means which suitably communicates ideas. A projector and laptop is available for the group to use throughout the session.

The PRAKSIS Development Forum (PDF) is a monthly peer-support group for the creative community of Oslo facilitated by practising artist Sayed Sattar Hasan. It provides a friendly, informal space for a diversity of practitioners to meet, share and discuss works in progress in a constructive setting. It’s an opportunity to learn about what other creatives are up to and hear different perspectives on how to approach practice. PDF is open to individuals at all career stages and values each participant’s contribution to the group.

There are 8 places per session so booking is advised. Please write to office@praksisoslo.org attention of Sayed Hasan to find out more or book a place.

Refreshments will be provided.
