Don’t rest, narrate - A book about art, publishing and collaboration is both a resource and an art object.

Containing commissioned artworks and new texts, brief studies of key experiments in art and radical publishing, reprints of texts on subjects ranging from collective production to licensing and archiving and a bibliography giving pointers for further reading, the book is designed to inform and to stimulate further discussion and study.

Don’t rest, narrate evolved from research carried out during residency 7: For a rainy day – Publishing as a site of collectivisation, which was convened by Iz Öztat in autumn 2017 in collaboration with the publisher Torpedo and designers Eller med a. The publication was launched during Printed Matter´s Virtual Art Book Fair 2021.

For I give to you and you give to me, PRAKSIS Presents the video work, Looking back at you to see if you are looking back at me, created by the artist collective A,D,E,G,M,P,V as an extension of their contribution to the publication, plus PRAKSIS’s recording of the publication’s online launch event. This includes an introduction from its editors, short talks by artist Iz Öztat and art historian/curator, Ellef Prestsæter and a freewheeling general discussion of the book by many of those involved in its creation.
