Residency 17 Climata – Capturing Change at a Time of Ecological Crisis was developed by PRAKSIS and Lasse-Marc Riek in collaboration with the Goethe Institut Norway. The residency explored acoustic ecology, bio-acoustics and soundscapes. It included collaborations with the Norsk Teknisk Museum (The National Museum of Technology, Norway), Tenthaus Radio and Gruenrekorder.

The residents were; Siri Austeen (NO), Sarah Kazmi (PK), Margrethe Iren Pettersen (NO), Lasse-Marc Riek (DE), Elly Stormer Vadseth (NO), Gustavo Valdivia (PE), Geraldine Vanspauwen (BE) and Maria Wang Kvalheim (NO).

The theme of this issue of PRAKSIS Present arose from PRAKSIS’s Residency 17, Climata: Capturing Change at a Time of Ecological Crisis. Here you find two experimental radio broadcasts made by the residents as well as a series of talks on acoustic ecology by invited speakers that formed rich components of the residency’s programme of learning, discussion and development.

Originally aired 20.00 – 22.00, 17 November on Radio Tenthaus

This recording is developed from sonic experiments developed by the residents while adjusting to the Covid-19-enforced remote-residency format. The broadcast explores the locations and situations that residents found themselves in as a consequence of lockdown and social distancing.

Originally aired 20.00 – 22.00, 24 November on Radio Tenthaus

For Walk With Us, the residents extended invitations to others to send them soundwalks to which they responded with their own inspirations and interpretations through sound, music, and voice. It includes soundwalks by: Elin Már Øyen Vister (NO), Maan Methven (BE), Hanna Loewenthal (SA), Eisuke Yanakisawa (JP), John Luna (NO) and the Climata Residents.
