Release party: Are You Listening? PRAKSIS Teen Advisory Board explores sound in art

  • Sentralen 3 Øvre Slottsgate Oslo, Oslo, 0157 Norway (map)

PRAKSIS Teen Advisory Board is pleased to invite you to the launch of a podcast series and a sound piece. The works have been conceived and produced by the teens as a conclusion to a year exploring a wide range of audio formats, including sound art, podcasts, radio and walking tours. Over the past year, PTAB has worked with artists and met with institutions while developing their own responses to the questions: What is sound in art, and how does PTAB think arts institutions might use sound?

The event will take place in Hvelvet, the central bank vault in Sentralen, Oslo, on Saturday 2 March, between 2-6 pm. The programme includes sound art, artists in conversation, musical performances, performance art, silent disco, and more. It is open to all and free to attend.

About PTAB

PRAKSIS Teen Advisory Board (PTAB) offers ten paid positions to young adults aged between 16-21. Running since 2018, PTAB is the longest running of all Oslo’s youth boards. Participants come from all over Oslo and bring a variety of backgrounds and life experiences to their role. PTAB aims to contribute to long-term value creation within Oslo’s cultural field by bringing the group into a constructive dialogue with the city’s artists and cultural institutions: opening a window onto young people’s goals and concerns, and seeking to change institutions from within to become visibly more accessible.

The PTAB members of 2023 are:
Vivianné Bucio Bach, Samsam Bashir Hussain, Elwyn Bjerkan Mathiesen, Najiib Mahammed, Rue Mussé, Matine Nisso Nusayrieva-Mitchell, Linnea Sahlberg, Molly Scharffenberg, Laiba Shafiq, Rosa Horiat

The launch event is arranged with generous support from Sentralen MINT, which supports events promoting diversity, inclusion, and belonging. PRAKSIS Teen Advisory Board is supported by Erasmus+ Ungdom, Kulturtanken and Arts Council Norway.
