My Granddad’s Car with Sayed Sattar Hasan

  • The Dubliner 28 Rådhusgata Oslo, 0151 Norway (map)

Join Oslo-based artist Sayed Sattar Hasan in the informal social atmosphere of The Dubliner pub as he tells the story of ‘My Granddad’s Car’.

Exploring family history and cultural heritage, My Granddad’s Car is a collaborative project between artists Sayed Sattar Hasan and Karl Ohiri. The artists travelled thousands of miles from the UK to Nigeria and Pakistan in the attempt to park the two rusted wrecks of their grandfathers’ cars side by side in the country of Sattar Hasan and Ohiri’s birth – however the journeys didn't entirely go to plan…

The work explores the personal and shared experience of moving objects of questionable historical importance across continents, and the external and emotional forces which determined the form they arrive in. The talk reflects on family, friendship and intercultural heritage and opens up the question, ‘Which parts of our histories do we choose to carry with us?’

Taking place in a relaxed, conversational atmosphere, you are invited to bring your own stories and experiences to the table to share over a drink. Upon arrival at The Dubliner, please go to the bar at the back of the pub or ask a member of staff where to find us.
